STEP SEQUENCER
Control voltage
The Minimoog (1970), a compact and yet portable synthesizer, brought analog synthesis into mainstream music, impacting rock, jazz, and pop, and becoming a staple of live performances.
Synth pioneers Moog and Buchla introduced modular synthesizers in the 1960s, allowing musicians to create new sounds by patching new circuits and manipulating control voltages. Starting in the 1970s, sequencers and new drum machines enabled repetitive, rhythmic patterns that became foundational in genres like electronic, dance, and brand new experimental music.
SOUND SCAPE
Reverb & Noise
Analog music machines first emerged in the early 20th century with tools like the Theremin (1920), a new instrument playable without touch, marking a leap in electronic music.

In the 1950s, tape machines truly revolutionized sound manipulation and enabled artists to loop, splice, and layer sounds in ways never before possible, sparking early experimental music. Tone Generators
In the early 1980s, Japan’s Roland Corp released both the legendary TR808 & TB303 machines, sparking the creation of house and techno with their unmistakable, signature rhythms.
In Europe, Krautrock and the electronic pioneers, such as Kraftwerk and Tangerine Dream, explored synthesizers and drum machines, influencing both techno and ambient music. By the 1980s, analog synths started to face competition from digital models like Yamaha’s DX7, yet analog continued to appeal for its warmth and hands-on, and expressive sound.

Akai MPC 2000
The 1990s and early 2000s saw a huge resurgence of analog gear in techno, hip-hop, and EDM, with producers favoring its “retro” qualities and flavour over modern digital tool’s precision.
SSSSS
Today, analog music machines still retain a cult following, with Eurorack modular synthesizers and reissued classics inspiring musicians seeking the tactile, raw feel of analog sound that they appreciate. Everybody with a major recording contract got a free Oddessy if they’d allow Arp to use their name on a user’s list. There were ARP sounds on major releases.

RRRRR
Alan R. Pearlman’s goal was to create powerful synths. From a music business standpoint, Arp was innovative in two very important ways.
They released the Casio CZ series, with Phase Distortion synthesis, a new sound technology. Through out the 1980s and 1990s, Casio continued to produce a range of electronic instruments. These included synthesizers, digital pianos, and sampling keyboards.

Record represents a balance between an update and a testimony. Not only does it take us back to a time when music was transmitted over cables and collected on shelves, it also brings this aesthetic up to date with contemporary standards of typographic design.
